"Mum Can You Lend Me Twenty Quid" Stage Production

Mum-can-you-lend-m20-quidAfter a very successful tour earlier this year, DrugFAM, the charity that supports families affected by a loved one’s use of drugs or alcohol, will be performing their stage production of the very moving book “Mum, Can You Lend Me Twenty Quid” at venues in Buckinghamshire and Northampton this Autumn.

The book, written by Elizabeth Burton Phillips is a harrowing but ultimately moving and inspiring true story of her experience as an ordinary middle-class mother whose identical twin sons became involved in drugs, with heart-breaking consequences. Since her ordeal Elizabeth is now a tireless campaigner, helping to make parents aware of the pain and suffering caused to families by drug addiction.

The stage production by DrugFAM has been incredibly well received by audiences around the country, including a group of foster carers from Rochdale who went to see the play in order to gain deeper insight into the devastating effect of drug abuse on families, something that unfortunately many fostered children have experienced first-hand.

You can see the stageplay:

  • Monday 23rd September 2013 at Princes Risborough School, Buckinghamshire (9am and 11.30am performances)
  • Thursday 24th October 2013 at The Park Inn, Northampton (11am and 3pm performances)

If you go along, why not let us know what you thought of it, and how it could help you as a foster carer on our Facebook page, we’d love to hear what you have to say.
