Children's Easter Event

easter eventThe Yorkshire office held its annual Easter Event for the children during the half-term holiday, with a wide range of fun activities for the children to enjoy - and even a bit of Easter Eggs-ercise!

Our Easter-themed event this year was held at the local Scout hut. We decided to do another Health and Nutrition day because of the great feedback we got from the children about the last one we held. The day was open to all children linked to Family Fostercare and everyone enjoyed activities which included TRX, Kettlebells, Pilates and Boxing. Everyone got involved with the 'Eggs-ercise" classes and we even got some of our foster carers up and enjoying a Pilates Class!

Many of the children found they enjoyed the boxing, and it was great to see some of the older children helping the younger ones with technique and wearing the pads for them to hit.

There was also an arts and crafts room set-up for the children to come and go as they pleased. We had egg cups, Easter Cards and masks to decorate. We have some fantastic little card designers in group of children that attended! The children also had the opportunity to explore the “Keeping Safe” theme through their Easter craft activities by decorating a rabbit or egg shaped poster with ways they can keep safe. The resulting works of art were so lovely we couldn't resist putting them up in the office for everyone to see.

Of course we couldn’t have an Easter party without an Easter Egg Hunt, and all the children loved running around the field just outside the scout hut looking for all different kinds of treats.

Plenty of fun was had by all and it's fair to say that everyone enjoyed the eggs-perience (What's that you say? Enough with the 'egg' puns?!) We got some great feedback from the children after the event from the children, including:

“I love making things, so really enjoyed the arts and crafts. I also got to take it home with me.” (SA)

“Boxing is great, I helped some other children get to grips with the gloves.” (BK)

“The food was the best bit!” (LS)

“I got to see my brothers, it was really fun to play with each other.” (JR)
