Easter Chocolate Workshop

Our foster families in the West Midlands region shared a very yummy Easter treat with us last week - a special chocolate workshop. Messing around with melted chocolate and then eating it ... literally, what could be better?!

The event to celebrate Easter was held at Areley Kings village hall. The venue was perfect, with its good sized children's play park at the front which the children made good use of in the sunshine (yes, actual sunshine!) while we set up the event.

Three Master Chocolateirs from company My Chocolate came up from London for the afternoon to share some of their knowledge about chocolate and a few insider tips about working with chocolate to create some of the yummy treats which we got to sample. It would be fair to say that things got a little messy after that as we got down to the business of making our own chocolate goodies!

To ease us into using our newly learned skills for real everyone got to create and decorate their own Easter themed giant chocolate button, getting as crafty as they could.

Then the seriously messy fun began! Cutting, dipping and decorating gorgeously smooth milk chocolate fudge with chocolate shavings, strawberry curls, coconut and marshmallows... (***mouth watering just writing the words!***). It was the chocolate lover's definition of bliss - and it would be fair to say there were a fair few chocolate lovers amongst us!

There were prizes awarded for the most creative design and everyone took away a party bag crammed full of their own yummy handmade chocolate creations. All in all, it was a perfect way to spend an Easter holidays afternoon, in good company, good spirits and lashings of lovely chocolate!
