Your Region Needs You!
A staggering 1200 new foster carers are needed in Cumbria and the North West this year.
Having enough foster carers from as many different walks of life as possible gives us the best chance of finding the right foster family for each child or children, first time. The foster care 'workforce' needs to be as diverse as the children who come into care, and there is no such thing as the 'ideal foster carer'. If you can commit to caring for a child who is going through a difficult time, for as long as they need you, and you have a spare bedroom then there's a good chance you can become a foster carer.
Family Feel Fostering in Cumbria
Family Fostercare works with Cumbria local authority to find, train and support new foster carers to provide safe, sensitive foster care for children who, for one reason or another, cannot live with their families right now.
Family Fostercare believes in fostering with a family feel. That's why we keep our offices small, working with a maximum of 25 foster families at each office, so that we have the time to give every individual the care and support they need. As a foster agency one of our most important values is to make sure that every foster carer and young person we have the privilege of working with feels like one of the family.
And we're proud to say that we are living up to our values - our most recent Ofsted report highlights the high standard of care, stability and support children receive from Family Fostercare foster carers.
Your Local Family Fostercare
Our foster carers in Cumbria are supported by our Cumbria fostering team. We have two offices in the region to ensure the very best support for our foster carer groups around the county. Our main foster agency office is in Carlisle and we also have a foster carer meeting and training centre in Workington for our South & West Cumbria foster carer groups.
Our fostering team works with foster carers from around the region including Carlisle, Penrith, Workington, Whitehaven, Barrow in Furness, Brampton, Kendal and Appleby. Our Registered Manager for Cumbria is Donna Turner, a dedicated and experienced social worker with first hand experience of fostering, having grown up sharing her family home with fostered children. Not surprisingly, Donna is a firm believer in Family Fostercare's ethos of putting child and family first and fostering with a family feel.
