Half Term Nerf Gun Fun

A group of children from our West Midlands offices got together over the recent half-term for a high-energy afternoon of Nerf Gun fun at Russell Perks Martial Arts Academy.

The 90 minute session was fully instructed by a group of 3 academy staff members who carried out a detailed safety briefing with the children and fitted each with safety goggles before the fun began. The party was split over several different game formats, each of which was explained fully to the children beforehand, so there was plenty of variety and the chance for everyone to be fully involved, sometimes working in teams and sometimes as individuals. With a quick break to refuel and rehydrate between each game the children were able to keep up all that running, diving, rolling and jumping about with Nerf Guns at the ready for the full hour and a half (FFC Family Workers Tracey and Rachel, and the foster carers were exhausted just watching)!

Despite the large age range of children in the group - with the youngest being 8 and the oldest 15 – and despite that many of the children had not met each other before, everyone got on really well and were able to play together very happily as a team. It was especially nice that we were joined by a family currently in the process of transferring to us, and the party was a great opportunity for their young foster son to make some new friends and for the foster carers themselves to meet other carers in a very relaxed and informal setting.

Feedback after the event was extremely positive with foster carers telling us how much the children had enjoyed the Nerf Gun Party, and complimenting us on the wide range of fun activities available for the children. So well done to our fostering teams in our Dudley and Worcester offices for doing such a great job in helping our foster carers to keep children healthy, safe and happy! And thankyou to our foster families – some of whom travelled quite a distance to attend our Nerf Gun Party – for supporting this event, and others, so enthusiastically.
