This was a fun-filled family event which brought people together and enabled them to share a day out… and of course a lot of chocolate. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.

The trip to Cadbury world in Birmingham took place during the Easter holidays on 12th April with 40 people present; from careers, to children (ages 4-16) and staff. The day involved hands on experience, fun activities, an insight into the history of Cadburys and also the opportunity for the children to mix with other foster children and foster carers and spend enjoyable time together.

To kick start the day the children and their families were given a bar of chocolate each as they entered the museum. The tour started off at the “Bournville Experience” which looked at the heritage and history of Bournville Village, the Cadbury family, and how Cadbury World was created. The children learnt about the Quaker values which were important to the Cadbury family.

The children were then able to observe the experts at work as they watched a live demonstration on chocolate making. They were even given the opportunity to practise their own piping skills!

Next was a cinematic experience showing the entire production journey of the chocolate bean right up to being packaged and sold, followed by interactive video stations to learnt more about manufacturing.

Finally, a green screen photo shoot, a Cadabra ride, and on to the chocolate filled gift shop. Many of the families then stayed on to ride the Crunchie rollercoaster on the 4D cinema experience, which included holding on tight to the motion seats!

Many thanks to all the children and carers who attended making the day brilliant for all! It is wonderful seeing the children improving their skills in listening, participating and confidently asking lots of questions. Hopefully this experience has presented many career opportunities within the production sector for the children. Finally, a massive thankyou to the team who organised such a fantastic trip – and also keeping the children healthy, safe and happy! The Feedback after the event was extremely warming and we can’t wait for many more trips to come!
