This week’s summer event for the West Midlands region was quad biking! This event was a big hit with the children!
Our Quadbiking activity took place at Severn Valley Quad Trekking outside Kidderminster. With 15 people in attendance, foster carers, staff and the children all got stuck in and and enjoyed this fun-filled experience.
Our instructor Tony showed us around all the quad bikes and explained that we would start with a test drive around a small track, before going off road on a longer track through the fields.
After the risk assessment the children were excited to get started and listened attentively through the instructors and safety briefing. They were then given helmets and goggles to put on.
The first group climbed on to the quadbikes as the rest of us watched and cheered on from the side-lines. Next, the second group took to the track. The trip took us through fields of cows, goats, hay bales and beautiful countryside scenery!
The children were quick to cheer each other on and encourage those who were more daunted by the experience. One child in particular found the activity rather nerve racking, but from the encouragement of the children and staff, she was able to build up her confidence to complete a lap of the track. It was a great activity that brought the children together. It was really useful when helping to support two children who often find social situations difficult enabling them to over coming their fears.
This activity showed the children a very different line of work and resulted in one child wanting to own a quadbike centre!
Thanks for the staff for putting on a great day!
