Children from our Dudley office were lucky enough to receive a face painting masterclass with our absolute favourite (and now practically resident!) artist, Sally from Cheltenham Face Paints.
For several years now Sally has been wowing us at our events in our Worcester and Dudley offices with her beautiful face painting skills – we’ve had spooky spider webs and skulls, Christmas reindeers, beautiful flowers and a very memorable Easter bunny complete with finger carrot! So it was no surprise that 13 children, along with their foster carers, turned up for a very special Face Painting Class with Sally at our Dudley office towards the end of the summer holidays.
Each child was given a plastic board and a paint pallet, and they tried out the various techniques that Sally was demonstrating on large board. They first tried their hand at creating a beautiful ombre of colours in just one brush stroke, before moving on to learn how to paint an individual petal and then to use that technique to build the design into a whole flower. Finally, and in preparation for Halloween no doubt, Sally demonstrated how to paint a spider and a snake.
There was a wide age range of children at the class, from 4 to 15, and a good mix of boys and girls. All the children listened to and watched Sally’s demonstrations attentively and really applied themselves to recreating what they had been shown on their own boards.
Of course, after the paint there always comes the clean up (urghh!), but much to their credit and thanks to Sally’s inspiring masterclass, each child was happy enough to help by carefully washing their own boards and brushes.
Many of the children were familiar with Sally from having their faces painted by her at previous FFC events, and she delivered a lovely, entertaining workshop. We were all very impressed with how well the children all engaged with the activity, staying fully concentrated for the whole two hours. With plenty of individual assistance and tips from Sally and her assistant Molly throughout the class, the children were able to create some lovely designs which they very proud to show us.
