For our latest summer adventure, foster families from FFC Dudley and Worcester tried their hands - well, their feet actually - at a spot of Footgolf. (Yes, it is actually a thing!)

Foster families and staff met at Ravenmeadow Golf Centre in Worcester, who were our wonderful hosts for the afternoon, for a lively, family-feel lunch followed by a course orientation session and an introduction to the rules of Footgolf.

For the uninitiated, Footgolf is a relatively new sport which involves kicking a football around a purpose-built golf course as if it were a golf ball, with the aim of getting it from tee to football-sized hole in the least kicks possible.

Family Fostercare footgolf adventure

We organised ourselves into several groups of four, and, armed with nothing more than our feet, our ball and a scorecard, we set off for our respective teams’ starting hole. With some of the group choosing to play in family teams, others teaming up with friends they had made through Family Fostercare, and some working in teams with people they hadn’t met before, it was a wonderfully sociable and enjoyable afternoon in the fresh air.

It's got to be said though - Footgolf is not as easy as it sounds, so there wasn’t a hole-in-one, an albatross, an eagle or even a birdie between us! With all the fun, laughter, family bonding and new friendship forming going on our scorecards were all but forgotten… and quite frankly, that was the best thing for them!
